Hey guys, got a good deal on an older 2500 today, the one with treasure talk.
It was the owners grandfathers, and he said he's had it for two years now.
Is there any way of finding out how old it is. I would like to know if it has the new chip upgrade in it. It feels a bit heavy, probably not the best machine for my tennis elbow, lol, but I got it for short money and it's in great shape,he even through in a never been used stainless steel travel scoop, and some rechargeable batteries.
Any pointers on this beast will be appreciated. I currently own a gtp 1350 I've owned about three years now, and I love it. Should be cool to see the difference between imaging and profiling.

[size=large]had the GTI 1500. as far as i could tell the 1500 was an upgraded 1350 and the 2500 was an upgraded 1500. i only got the 1500 cause you didn't have to push the pp button again. it was/ is a pain to some folks who forget. i was getting to enjoy the GTI but ergonomics had me sell.

Alight!:bouncy:Congrats on the new(used) machine!:beers: That GTI 2500 is an incredible creation.:garrett::detecting: I used mine since it came out in '99. Feel free to ask for advice at anytime.:wiggle:
Having used that GTP 1350, transitioning to the GTI 2500 will be a piece of cake. Bear in mind that the imaging feature will not work with every search coil as the profiling does with the 1350. The only search coils that image are the stock 9.5" and the 12.5" imaging coils. The 2500 weighs more than the 1350(as you mention)so you may want to use a harness, especially when using the larger search coils such as the 12.5" or 10"x14"DD. Here is a link to some that KellyCo sells which I have used frequently.

You also mention that you received a set of rechargeable batteries. That's great. I always use rechargeables. One thing to remember regarding rechargeables is that once they start to get low they will drop to zero quite rapidly, whereas standard alkiline batteries drop off at a steady pace. So, it always a good idea to keep some spare alkaline batteries in your pouch in case the rechargeables die out in the field.
Oh yeah, you can call Garrett's (800-527-4011 or 972-494-6151)and ask 'em how old your machine is and if the have a record of it ever receiving the chip upgrade. Just give 'em the serial number and they can look it up for you.
Best of luck to ya':biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

I have read on several post when the 2500 was sent t in for upgrade it came back without treasure talk. Best to find out if that's part of the upgrade and if you have the choices. They where having a little trouble with treasure talk. I never did and like the feature not that I use it total or at all. Its just unique.

Try the all metal mode that ID's a but noisy but deep as any unit on the market in this mode..1500 or 1350 does not have this mode as they are lighter and not as boxy, as far as the talk feature it will really do a job on your battery time and to me is unique but a pain in the butt as I detect to get away not have a machine talking to me...

I have a gti2500 and have used it for 5 years. It's a very powerful machine as it is Garrett's top of the line unit. You are going to love it.

I agree with you guys,I don't use the treasure talk feature either.
Took her out yesterday for her maiden voyage, went to an old park nearby that doesn't get used much anymore. I've hunted this park several times with my 1350,but my best finds came with the 2500. I dug a boy scouts neckerchief, that reads "onward for my god and my country" it's made out of copper. Also a no date large cent in decent condition, looks to be minted between 1808 and1829. And I was also surprised with an old flat button that reads Treble Gilt. Stand colour.
So far the imaging feature is much more accurate than the profiling feature on my 1350. I think her and I are going to get along just fine.

Great finds and from my experience there's probable more goodies . You got a nice old site from the way it sound. Seems like there should be silver around. Now that you know what could be there sweep slow and overlap your sweeps. Good luck and keep us posted. Sometime on imaging it may show up bigger than a coin. Can mean two targets very close together.

i've found my gti is great at size and depth. leaves a bit to be desired on the i.d.
