Picked up a nice GTI 2500 Pro Package with Treasure Hound Eagle Eye coil

Old California

Recently, Picked up an extremely nice GTI 2500 Pro Package with Treasure Hound Eagle Eye coil, and both 9.5" & 12.5" coils. Everything is there, boy what a setup.

Always wanted one, mainly for the 2-box Treasure Hound Eagle Eye setup. But also like the imaging feature, surprised Garrett didn't carry this further with an updated version.

Didn't get it at a steal, but at a fair price from my local pawn shop.

Anyone ever use one of these? I've got about two hours on mine, getting accustomed to the settings. Will try the 2-box setup next weekend at an 1850 site, very curious to see how it'll do on larger relics.

You got it right. Why haven't they carried the imaging into the AT series? Maybe there's a new detector coming.

When using a Fisher CZ-7a and a Teknetics Gamma, I get used to the idea of swinging the coil in different directions and trying to figure out how big the target is -- large and deep, or small and shallow. That often looks pretty much alike. I get fooled many times with deep can slaw and bottle caps.

When I first got the GTI 2500, I dug everything. It was just to learn the machine and see how well the imaging works. It's great, including using coil sizes similar to the other detectors.

The GTI's 3-element coil (one Tx and two Rx) is heavier than a 2-element coil (one Tx and one Rx). It must cost more to make, too. That might be holding Garrett back from making an updated machine with imaging.

It's worth it in the field. If they bring out an AT with imaging, I'll be in line to get one.

I'll be right there with ya! Love the imaging feature.

Hello John,

Managed to squeeze in an hour with the Treasure Hound Eagle setup this morning, wasn't fully prepared with settings especially Threshold.

From the Treasure Hound instruction pamphlet, didn't quite give enough information and wasn't aware I could adjust Threshold with the 2-box connected. Wasn't until getting home figured it out I could increase Threshold, so my first 2-box experience was fair.

Now, I see from strolling through the All Metal menu it does give the user access to making changes out in the field.

Appears to be good 2-box, a little on the heavy side but built like a Sherman tank. My other 2-box units are lighter, but not as sensitive with the front eagle eye coil. Knowing what I know now, very excited with my next Treasure Hound 2-box adventure.

Thanks John for your encouraging words,

Paul

Hello Joe,

You bet I'll be there right beside both you and John for an advanced AT with an imaging feature, boy that would be super.

I think Garrett will, can't wait!

Paul

I heard that it won't pick up coin sized targets. They have to be pop can size. That baby could find you a nice deep buried cache.

For the weight, I rigged up a nylon shoulder strap from an old choker I had laying around. Mine picked up a 2' x 3' padlock at 18 inches down.
