Picked up a Garrett Ultra Investigator G-500

My wife really missed her Gti 1500. We sold it when we moved to Georgia back in 2005.
There hasn't been a detector I have bought her since then that she liked. Kept getting, "...its not like my Garrett was...."
I gave up..........
Found what looked like a nice Garrett on ebay that would fit the bill nicely. Easier to use, enough features with respectable depth.
Close enough to the GTi1500.

It arrived, opened the box. Wow, this detector looked mint. And worked excellent when it was turned on. And like the dark olive s-handle and lower rod color.
Kind of liked it myself.....felt like the Gti1500 and Gti2500 I also owned and sold. Almost makes me want to get another GTi............hmmm, have a nice
Minelab X-Terra 70 with two coils that could use a new home......

By the way, the G-500 is the same as the GTA500. New decals were added to the outsides of the control box. A small decal covers the GTA500 faceplate. It can easily come off
to reveal the GTA target icons.

Hot as Hell out this evening...had to test out the G-500 at the school across the street.
It didn't me me long to get the hang of how to use it. And most of the finds were within the 3-5" range.
Did get some larger junk from around 7". Went back over a section that I have hunted so many times with so many detectors, there shouldn't be a good target left in there.
Found coins right off the bat. The Canadian clad signals were kind of iffy but, if one curser locked near peeny or quarter and the second curser bounced around at 1 and about 4.
It was clad coins. I was or less digging everything to see what kind of language the G-500 had for a single tone machine.

I was surprised to find a small 10kt gold ring within the first 45 minutes hunting. Then about 15 minutes later, a big heavy silver ring. Have to test it, have a feeling it's a silver plated lead pot metal ring.

Kind of joking to myself out there,"just call me John Edmonton...the ring man..."

I may have to think about getting a used GTi for myself again. Hmm, now I have to think, do I sell or trade the X-terra......:surprised:
