I've run etracs/CTX. So I'm minelab fluent. For some of the folks that either still run the XS or can remember a bit on the setup. Could someone give me the quick run down on some key settings to use when looking for the deepies.

Bought the XS more as a keepsake, but would like to run some in some select sites.

I still run a nice 1999 Explorer XS with a 12x10 SEF coil and i will tell you I'm starting too like the ferrous tones with a open screen That mikeO showed me it opens up a whole new approach on sounds and man i do not miss much unless I'm swinging too fast. Hope this helps

And I will echo what sasquache said about open screen.

I've run ferrous open screen with just bottle caps disced out in the lower right hand corner for many many years. As far as I can tell the Explorers, etrac, and CTX all use the same underlying technology and all get about the same depth and separation.

But the screen on the Explorers gives so much more information than the Etracs and CTX. Instead of stuffing every signal on the 12 ferrous line the explorers use the whole screen.

I think you'll be pleased with your purchase.

Here is a link to an online guide. It is a little weird to navigate, but there are about 8 chapters. Also, do a search on here for Mike's Explorer Screens.

You folks are super. Thank you kindly. Maybe I can get a handle on my keepsake and make a few finds and post.
