Pick one?????

I have a chance to get a really nice condition used " Eldorado" even though I was planning to pick up a Vaquero? Why would I buy one over the other??? Which of these two would be the better unit.....price is not an issue! The present owner of the Eldorado says, that it's better in iron infested areas, this appeals to me but is it true? Any ideas on this two detector choice ....dilemma? Thanks.

I have one of each and like them both. I really like the toggle switch from all metal to Disc on the Eldorado and it appears to have a lower range of acceptance at the minimum setting of the discrimination control. I use both machines, probably one as much as the other, and don't see a whole lot of difference between them except as noted above.

Well if price is not an issue, then I would get both. Give both a fair shake and later on if you don't like one for whatever reason, then let the one go. This way you won't have it in the back of your mind ( I should have got/tried the other).
And if you like both, then the better. Don't hurt to have an extra machine or backup for that matter.

I almost sold mine and I am really glad I didn't!!! The 5.75 made all the difference in the world...

How about the Silver? Tell me what you think.

I really like it. It normally takes me awhile to decide on a machine for sure, but I already like the Cortes in a shorter than normal time. With the 5.75 coil, it's a fun machine. I'll use a machine with or without a screen display. Sometimes I'm just not in any hurry (usually not), and that's where a machine like the Cortes comes in. I know some say that they can dig a target and be on the way by the time someone else analyzes a target with a screen machine, well I usually don't try and enter a speed contest. I'm out there to enjoy and not compete. But it looks like I sometimes have to compete against my son on who gets to use the Cortes. Dad don't always win here. If he is having fun using it, well he needs his fun to. That's the good in having a variety of machines.
So later today I'm taking the Cortes and Silver uMax. I'll be happy with either, but since my son is still new at all this, I think he will use the Cortes mostly because the confidence bars and depth reading are just additional tools he can use help understand on how machines work. I also have planned on putting the Silver in his hands after a brief crash course.
I'm finding the Cortes putting more resolution into the lower conductive area has it's place, so it's a keeper for me.
Now I just read a little about that 7 inch coil, back to scratching another spot............

why not give it a try for yourself and see if you like it? Another person can give advice, but so often experience is the best teacher. I think many folk here in the northwest have had pretty good luck with them. Give it a try!

I tried the Eldorado and was not impressed, went back to my Bandido at the time. The V is a better machine in my opinion.
I have a chance to get a really nice condition used " Eldorado" even though I was planning to pick up a Vaquero?
If we were sitting at a burger stop taking a break from detecting and entered this discussion, my first questions would be:

I have a Vaquero, but I've been looking at a Tejon to use for the am and disc trigger. I have 4 coil, the stock, 12 x 10, 5.75 and the CS.
I'm wanting to get into the old home site hunting too. But I've read a lot about the Eldorado and Compradre being better in iron infested ground than both the Vaquero and the Tejon.
Please respond with your facts.
