PI Pro versus the Sand Shark SORRY

Hi william, I see you aren't getting any help. I can't give you an honest report since I have never used either machine. But since I am a Tesoro fan I would go with the Sand Shark myself. Lifetime warranty too. I think you are wanting strictly a PI machine william? Ok I hope you get more help and God Bless.

William1,

I am not going to be much help to you either since I have never used either machine. However, I do own 2 PI machines and a Tiger Shark mentioned in another post.

Both of the machines that you mentioned are basic PI machines so they are ALL Metal machines. They will both handle the salt beaches as well as any of the PI machines available. The Sand Shark will handle an underwater depth of 200 feet. If I remember right that is somewhat deeper than the PI Pro. I could be wrong there so check the specs.

PI machines are great machines but they love iron and in trashy areas they can drive you nuts. If you do not live where you have close access to salt water beaches and will only occasionally visit them then I would not recommend a PI detector as your primary water detector. I would go with the Tiger Shark that has discrimination and will work well on salt beaches and fresh water beaches.

If you must have a PI machine, then the Sand Shark is as good as the others on the market and better than most. You won't be disappointed I am sure.

God Bless,

Smitty II

Willian1, I have used both these detectors and many others. TreasureNet is down today so I am here.
If you dive, the Sand Shark is good to 200 foot while the PI Pro 100. NO big deal for me as I rarely go deeper than 50 foot. The Sand Shark seems to have a little better discrimination too. I love the way it never seems to use up any batteries.
A huge advantage to the Sand Shark is it's ability to change coils. A huge light weight 18" X 3" Clean Sweep Coil is available for the Sand Shark and the UMax. This coil is hot down the center and pinpoints off the very tip. It makes fast work of a huge dry or wet beach. I love it for that reason. Both are hip mountable but aren't heavy anyway.

Hope this helps
