PI Pro users

Well I don't have A EXCAlbier and very little time on the PI the Whites is deep. and it will pick up every thing if you go with a PI.
Make sure your in shape and have a good back. I just listed my PI on ebay because I don't have a good back and need to be in better shape.

Yes and No.

The Surfmaster PI and PI PRO are overall quieter on average than the Excalibur and will go deeper.

But in terms of selectivity, the Excalibur at its lowest discrimination point will see small rings and eliminate most nuisance ferrous targets and identify most steel crown or bottle caps.

No discrimination with the Surf PI/Pro. With some practice, you can learn to listen carefully to the target signals. PIs as a rule with the exception of the Eric Foster Pulse Units, eliminate small pieces of tin foil found in the wet salt range, but in doing so miss some of those elusive gold chains.

The Excalibur likewise won't see tiny chains either. I recently recovered a diamond tennis bracelet and none of my Minelab Detectors would see it including my Excalibur 800. The bracelet was recovered using my gold sniffing Tesoro Vaquero. (My Surfmaster PI Pro wouldn't see it either).

It is possible under some ground conditions where the phase angle of the target changes upward, for PIs to hear a small gold chain, but your odds are improved using single frequency detectors running at 12 kHz or better.... (Case for the GMT @ 48 kHz?????).:argue:
