pi pro or mark2?

I'm sure to upset Garrett people but if it was me buying I would go with the PI PRO... I have a friend who has the Mark II and it tends to be quite noisy in the shallows and you can hear the waves passing over the coil.. I hear the Infinium is pretty good but if I was going to spend that much money I would buy an Excalibur.

I have been trying to decide the same thing but also looking at the HEADHUNTER Diver & PI I would like to know how the Whites pi pro stacks up to the HH PI

White's PI pro is a nice detector for it's price. Plus you can dive with it. The Headhunter PI it alittle bit better in my opinion, lighter and about the same price. With slightly better depth. For a few $ more you can get a Goldquest SS it's the best PI beach detector in my opinion. That or the Goldquest SS aquasearch...

Happy Holidays & HH

HI
yes, alot of people tell me about the excaliber. But ,I have fownd that its to fare out of my price rang.I am looking for some thing arownd the 500to700 hundred dollers. coin2

If price is a concern then you might want to look at 2 detectors, one for the water and one for the dry sand.. A PI is no fun in the dry sand because there is usually too much trash there. I hunt the wet with my PI and if I wanted to hunt the dry I use my DFX but I usually leave the dry sand to the clad hunters :)

HI craig

I have the mxt for hunting the dry sand,on the beach. I love it, It's a fun detector to hunt with. coin2

I have a Infinium and any real issue with noise in the shallows is due to the coil wire not being tight to the shaft. The movement of the wire causes this issue, velcro solves the issue. You also get the choice of a additional coil (10"x14" mono with the Mark2)the stock is the 8" mono, this a great coil and very sensative to small items very deep. This coil is my choice at the beach. My brother has a Excal and it is not as good on the smaller items such as small earings, it does do great at knocking out the nails, so it does have discriminating ablities along with the tones that is gives when you get use to how things sound. The DetectorPro products are nice, I did own a VLF Diver unit, DetectorPros service is great, top notch I know this as my unit went back twice in one year for the coil over the earphone and the coil wire at the coil. I went to the Tesoro Tiger Shark it is much better at smaller items and gold from my bench air tests. A lot of good things can be said about the detectorPro products. I have hunted along side my brother and his Whites Surf PI he likes it but did not get the weighted coil for the water. If you plan on going in the water get a weighted coil. My brother would chose the Excal over the Surf PI in most water or beach conditions. To many choices and factors. If you are dealing with a price range it is a coin toss for the Whites or the Garrett.

Good Luck!
