PI on a Dry Lake Bed

G,day All,
In my home town we had 2 freshwater lakes but are now dry because of the drought we had several years ago. These lakes were heavily used when they contained water, sandy beaches.I have been told by elders of the town that it was most popular in the early 1920's-30'very popular for swimming & camping,& guess what they still swam with their jewelery on back then also.
But my main question is how will my Sea Hunter MkII PI machine work in dry conditions, the lake now has huge cracks leading down several feet in alot of places. Will I be able to detect coins & rings, that were lost time ago or will they be too deep to detect.Need some feedback please, others who have detected lakes or dry swimming holes or people who have used the sea hunter before out of the water.Although these lakes were fresh water ,they now have a high salt content in the soil, will this help for my machine to detect? O do I use my GTAX1000 with 10x14" DD coil? what will detect deeper in these conditions?
