PI gain over excal2

Hi Guys,

Going over to Spain a little later this year and was just wondering if anyone knows how the Whites pi pro would perform against the Excal2.

I know there is going to be a depth improvement, but I don't know how the Whites handles compared to my Goldscan5.
I just feel that I am walking over a lot of targets in the harder packed sands of Spain, and just maybe the Whites would give me a bit of an edge. I guess you gotta weigh up the time spent chasing small iron and wasting time in the hope of pulling a few more rings, against not digging any at all with the scally.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers

I guess no one has a gs5, and has used a Whites then, shame:wiggle:, would like to know how they compare, i would assume that you can tell the flat scrap and hairpins ( bobbypins ) etc just as easy as i can with the gs5.
That's really what I would like to find out, how the Whites performs against the gs5, I would take the gs5 over but it aint waterproof and don't want to murder an expensive machine.

On my beaches I reckon I could hold my own against anyone, with any machine and produce more goodies than them, but that's only because I know my beaches, and that's why I would like to find out as much as possible about the Spanish beach makeup before i go. If there are fairly hard compacted beaches like a few i have been on over on the islands, then a pi is the way to go, just need to sort out which one to buy.

I hope this post doesn't sound stroppy in any way, just that rolling eyes telling me how to suck eggs doesn't put a smile on my face:starwars:

Why do you care what anothers opinion is? I'm a PI guy and its to our advantage that they don't use a PI... The PI has a rep of finding tiny trash so what.... I know what I have in my goody box.. any day of the week I'll follow right behind a VLF user because I know I'll find that deep stuff his detector can't even see... if it means digging a little more trash so be it :) You're using running a great machine and if you were to purchase a Whites PI you won't be sorry... its going to be deeper than a VLF and depths the name of the game in my book :)

Craig-pi.

I totally agree about the depth of the pi over a vlf, i run over the same ground on my beaches after the scally, and pick out the deep small low conductive targets, hell, I dig our 5 pence coins at over 18" in the sloppy wet sands, but i don't think when your up to your neck in water, your'e gonna be physically capable of digging a target that depth UNLESS as I stated earlier, the sand is fairly compacted and will give you a chance to dig the target out before the hole becomes quicksand.

So as to my first post, just trying to gather some info on the performance of the gs5 against the Whites, and maybe some info from people who have been to Spain and know what kinda conditions to expect on the beaches:surrender:.

Sorry if I seem a little harsh, not in the best of moods, my mother had a heart attack yesterday, and both my parents are supposed to be coming away with my wife and daughter on this holday.

The waterproof Whites PI is not anything like your Goldscan 5 or the new Whites TDI PI. The waterproof Whites PI is a Surfmaster PI Pro done over a bit. They added in a Pulse Delay control, and a new designed coil.

The Whites Pulse Scan TDI is a Eric Foster designed discriminating PI detector, based on the Goldscan 5. It is not waterproof. The performance is not quite the performance of the GS 5b/c models. Don't misunderstand me, "not quite" means just that. It's "very" close. The differences are the difference between assembly line manufacture, and custom made.

If you have a Goldscan 5 most likely it could be modified to include enhanced discrimination control, like the ability to select between high or low conductive targets. Drop me a PM if you have any questions on this.
