Physical Exam for my MXT:

Well-known member
I asked Larry to send my detector off to White's service center be checked last week. Nothing critical, but it did need some minor attention to some spots like the toggle switch and the ear phone jack. It's been used heavily since I got it new and it was past due for a check-up. It's given me a bountiful of many "firsts" this year. :wiggle: This is the perfect time to have it in the shop. I should be getting it back soon. I want to be ready when that sunshine and warm temps come back to Illinois. :twodetecting: Thanks for your time.....HH, Nancy

That's a great idea sending it off this time of year........ I never thought of just having a check up, I guess that's better then waiting till you break something.....:whites:.....:clapping:

Nancy, what does white's charge for a check up ? also do you know anything about the Lombard service center ?

The guy in Lombard is good. I bought my first detector from him (used). I had a little trouble with it later and he took good care of me, fixing things that I didn't even know were wrong. The only thing is he no longer has a store front operation. Rob

Hi Chappy. I haven't received an itemized invoice yet, but I think it costs $68 for a check up plus parts. I ordered a couple of battery packs too and it came to a little over $100 shipped back to us. Google Electronic Exploration for the web site and he has another link to go to as well. Everything is spelled out for you including parts and how much etc.

That repair center is top notch with turn around in just a few days.

I sent my mxt off to Sweet home, OR this fall for a 5 year checkup and to correct a chatter noise. The total round trip was 2 weeks and the cost was around $60. I'm a happy camper. Hal

I can't wait to see my 'new' used MXT. I couldn't begin to tell you how many hours I have on that machine. Before we got the cruiser, Larry and I would be out all day. Leave in the morning and I would pack a picnic lunch for the two of us. We wouldn't get home till late that evening. This happened day after day in the summer. HH to all, Nancy

I got my MXT back today and it's ready to go! :detecting: Too bad I'm not ready to go out in the cold. The service center charged $55 an hour for diagnostic and repair. They replaced the headphone jack assembly (which was terribly loose) and a few other minor things. Turn around time was fast, but I thought they would have cleaned my machine inside and out. Guess not. Has anyone else cleaned the inside of their machine? I'm sure mine could use it with being in the back of Larry's truck 24/7 except for the cold months. It's probably got enough dirt inside to start a small. garden. Thanks and HH, Nancy

Pull the battery pack out and get a can of compressed air ( like used on computers) and blow it out. Oh you may want to do it outside!!:lmfao:

Hi Nancy, I finally got out today for the first time this year. The weather has been great but I just got busy this first week. I've had mine apart. The compressed air is good but I always worry some of the junk will blow up on the PC board and cause a problem. I just remove the screws, lift up the top of the box and and blow it clean. I leave the ribbon connectors (wires) attached and have no trouble seeing the board. I can see that nothing gets on the board. Rob

The MXT and others from Whites are fantastic as far as going and going and going. One of the best built machines around. We really only get repair jobs from old age, the machines that is, or an accidental breakage of something. Pity other things in life we buy are not built that good huh!

Thanks Rob and Sysgrade. I will do that when the weather is better, then I'll be able to take it outside and get the most of it. I'm sure it will make my machine a lot lighter. No kidding. It's been well used. Thanks again, Nancy

Rob, you didn't say what you found today. I am so jealous that you are where it's nice and warm. Just kidding. I'm glad someone can get out and hunt and keep us posted. It's to get down to 14 tonight. Sure hope you're enjoying your time there and hope you have a safe trip home. Thanks for keeping in touch. OK.............WHAT DID YOU FIND TODAY???!!!! :please: Thanks and HH, Nancy
