Interesting. Brings back many memories of living on the channel back in the 50's, which was a long, long time before the walkways out to the piers that exist now. Back then, it was just big piles of Hugh rocks along the edge.
 
You must have a lot of good memories! Did you ever swim out in the channel or jump off of the pier back then?
