My son Jim and I went drove out to look for a lost gold mine. We did find some promising quartz float this time, and may have located the load, we'll see.

On the way there, you pass a rock formation called Negro Rock. It is pretty, but I can't help of thinking of "Motown" records when I see the sign, but that's me.

The area is big and empty. Not at all like Elsons swamp, or Beans tick forests.

We did manage to find lots of the pesky tick varmints on us. I took a picture of number 12 as he was climbing my leg. Between Jim and I we picked a good crop off of our hides.

This was a pretty bunch of lava rocks with the blue sky over head. The day was 70 degrees, even though the north side of the draws had snow in them.

There are interesting rocks laying on the ground, if you watch closely. Jim found this.

I found a skull in a creek (That is pronounced "Crick" in Idaho} bottom. As I looked at the skull I had to wonder, who was this person, how did he die here in this lonely place, and why did he have antlers? It has joined others in my rock garden.

It was a great day to hike in the desert. We saw one other truck the whole day, and it was broken down and left. Dead silence and nice weather! I have some more photos I will post later,
