Photo of Bill Ladd & Dimitar working on ID Excel Prototype in Rhode Island

Just a photo I came across of Bill & Dimitar when they were hunting cellar holes in Rhode Island. Dimitar had just finished a couple of prototype ID Excel's, and flew to Bill's place to try them out.

Enjoy

that picture appears in the W&E article as well.
We are holding very early, rough proto's of the ID-Excel. They were in big C$ sized boxes, & only a few of the pads worked. I remember we all found stuff that day too- great memories. Two large cents showed up- I may have a picture of the finds somewhere even. I remember he even fixed my CoinStrike on my coffee table, & he would have modded it with a trigger but he didn't have the schematic. He also wanted to test on the beach & we did that too as I have both places nearby. I had lots of suggestions on the proto, like pleading to use a smaller housing, etc., & the little Excel came out of those trials. It's a killer little detector in trash that unfortunately didn't get it due. Hot wheel flames on the side, & other units coming out at the same time didn't help.....
Though some people like to take shots at Los Banos management, Dimitar, & his units......getting an enginner into the field with rough proto's & someone who knows how to make finds is a smart move. There should be more prototypes put into the hands of people with experience, instead of just winging out all kinds of "finished" units to Cabella's. Nowadays rough proto's get "field tested" in factories, & Cabella's gets all the rough proto's:devil:

Did someone say, "photo op?"

Even at my workplace the engineers often think they have good ideas but never follow through by self-involvement. Kudos to Dimitar!
Ill go along with that. I always end up helping the engineer modify his projects, so they are actually useful and rugged enough to be used in the real world.
