Pete is without a computer

He apparently got some sort of virus yesterday. When he booted up he got hundreds of screens streaming by with all the files that were being deleted, followed by the same thing as they were "recovered". This went on for at least a half hour. Then his computer went into an endless loop of rebooting over and over again. He couldn't get into it at all. So he used the recover disk and formatted his hard drive and put it away. He's been so frustrated with the broken screen and only being able to see a part of the display, and just a few weeks ago had bad computer problems where he lost everything twice in a couple of weeks...so he put it away and has just given up for the time being at least. I'd like to be able to sell it for parts or something, and sell an old Compaq we have laying around, and maybe be able to buy him something that works but he said don't bother...but when have I ever listened to him? lol!

Anyway, he wanted me to let you guys know that if you want to reach him (like for the secret santa thing, Mike) that he won't be getting his email and won't be on the forum.

(Meanwhile, though, he just got my elderly desktop online in my music room. I only use it to post my music online, and download music to play on my keyboard - probably less than an hour a day. I told him he could use that computer, the jury is still out though on whether he actually will, he doesn't like to go in my music room very much because it's "my" space...)

Hi Sherry! I am sorry to hear about Bro Pete's computer and I know he really must be frustrated in not being able to have a working one! Just let him know that I am praying for him and for the Lord to find favor with him and somehow, someway provide him with a new or newer one! We sure will miss him and his scriptures from the Bible that he posts and yet we know our Savior loves us with an everlasting love and we can praise Him in all things! Tell Pete everything will work out in time as well as the job he needs to provide for the family and when it is the darkest, the brighter Jesus' light shines! many reasons to be sure. First, I am not without a computer as I have this 'thing' I will continue to use (laptop with the busted screen) and I have a desktop computer but the monitor is a piece of junk. Tried to get a monitor off freecycle and after many promises and broken promises and over a month waiting for the person to make good on the promises I gave up trying to find another monitor. The one I have I paid about $5 are a ReStore and the screen is unadjustable so the desktop screen extends beyond the sides of the screen itself. I am not too enthused about being teethered to a LAN cable for the desktop and even though this 'thing' is an irratation it is wireless.

I do have Sherry's permission to use her computers. One is a desktop but since she uses it to compose music, I don't mess with it. Her other computer is a laptop like this 'things' and it is hers. Last thing I want to do is have something happen to it and not be able to do anything about it.

Not doing anything about it seems to be a theme lately. From the hot water heater leaking, to the gas clothes dryer (both of which I have sitting in the garage their replacement), to a snowblower needing repair so I could use it at work instead of hand shovelling the sidewalks, to frustrations with the swimming pool and spa at work, the van sliding door which falls off the track if opened and now the drivers door I have a 1 by 2 inch borad holding the door shut so it doesn't open when driving down the road (feel like I'm driving a Flintstone mobile - everyone now has to get into the van through the passenger door - ever hear of a Chinese fire drill???) , someone usting my email address to send out spam and giving me a black eye in the process, and many more and most importantly not being able to do anything about Sherry's condition and watching her suffer daily - hour by hour and minute by minute.

So I guess like Popeye "I's had alls I can stands and I can't stands no more" and told Sherry I have had it with computers - I just don't care any more. Everytime these things crash and Windows has to be reinstalled there are days upon days reloading programs, updating the programs loaded and of course there are those files lost such as all the emails and addresses, all the pictures, all the good Christian music, the sheet music, my resumes, etc, etc, etc.

Makes one want to scream. Well makes me want to scream anyway.

Sherry told me of how much you all missed me and how my Sisters and Brothers wanted to help....brought tears to my eyes as they are now. So I am struggling to get this back working again as it is not the right thing to do to leave behind you all because life is difficult. Will continue to work on this 'thing' and will keep in touch as often as I can. I had a great recovery program - was one ot the giveaway of the day programs - for recovering files. With it I could try to save a lot of what might still be on the harddrive even though it has been reformatted to install the operating syste,....but alas it too is gone with the system crash.

I want to thank you all for the love you have shown to Sherry and myself. I can never repay that in show of love. I do know I can't just walk away from my 'family' just because I am sick and tired of being sick and tired of things.

Thank you, Bro Pete, for telling how things are with you and I can understand, for I am still having a hard time to get ready to move to my Cuba, MO home, as I still have so much to do here in this one and don't feel well most of the time; therefore, difficult to get things done like they should be by now! Cliff is too ill and can't do too much, as his breathing gets too difficult for him when he tries to do something....has to rest often and get his breathing back to where he can go again!

But, you know, God is still with us and wants us to draw nearer to Him by asking for His help and giving Him praise in all things, during both the good and trying times! There's always thorns among the Roses and satan uses them as firey darts to cause us to get very discouraged and even fail to endure and overcome, but that old liar is but a puff of wind and praying and praising God will make him turn his tail and flee! I know God has a plan for you, Sherry, Cliff and me....but it takes some work on our part to make it happen and satan would have us sick and discouraged so God's plan for us won't happen!

The Lord is good to His own and He helps us to have godly wisdom to know how to do or get things done for our good and His purpsoe, but in His own time and in His own way! Keep on, keepin' on having faith in Jesus and living in His wonderful love, walking in His light and staying on God's straight and narrow path! Sister Sherry, please keep hold of Jesus and don't let go by approaching God's throne of grace boldly and He will do miracles in your's and Pete's lives and heal you and the problems that satan causes to get you both discouraged and more ill from all the stress....Remember satan is a liar and he can be defeated by the Holy Spirit of God that is within each of us!
