Coin Hunting Finds Since 1975 </strong>

I have had this page for about 10 years now at Geocities. It is interesting that it is the #1 non sponsored site on several search engines when you type in the keywords COIN HUNTING :D

The problem I have with Geocities is that there is a very limited amount of server space for the site (I am almost maxed out now at 10.7 MB) plus there is a limit on the transfers. So if you go there it may tell you the page is temporarily unavailable and to come back later if there have been too many hits.

I am looking for suggestions on how to increase the space (I think I will need at least 1 GB) and the transfer allowance but haven't come up with anything yet that does not cost $$ monthly.

Any suggestions?

I use angelfire.com for my webhosting. Right now I've used 11.41 MB of my allowed 20 MB. I've been contemplating what to do myself when I hit the limit. The only two I can think of are:

1) Start removing old photos. Make a note on those pages detailing why images are no longer available.

2) Register for another free webpage and link between the two (or three, etc.). You may need to use a different email address for each one. If your ISP allows you to create extra email accounts (usually for the kids or spouse), you can utilize that email address.

Your ISP should give you free space. I know mine does (earthlink), I get 12MB per email address and you can have up to 7 email addresses... I am sure your provider must give you free space and no advertising like geocities etc

Hi Keith,
I have one on my ISP's server and think I get 10MB space.

You must have a load of pictures up if you are pushing 10 meg!

I also just re-did my Graphic Design site. You might consider getting your site hosted and a domain name. I just bought http://www.beachygraphics.com and the minimum hosting package on godaddy.com for two years - $80. I thought that was a deal! 4GB storage space, free e-mail, easy to ftp.

Check it out maybe you could be coinhuntingkeith.com.

If you need any help or have questions on going with the domain/hosting let me know and I will try to help.

Keith,

I highly recommend http://www.pbase.com You get 300 meg of space (for images only) for $23 bucks a YEAR! What I do is put my images on pbase.com and link to them on my webpage. The images come up just like it's all setting on the same server. I am into photography and astrophotography so this setup suits me well. Check out

The images that come up are all on pbase.com but the webpage is on charter.net's server. You can also see those same images that you just looked at by going to the link below.

My webpage is http://webpages.charter.net/paastroman/ and has nothing to do metal detecting.

$3.00 a month but you need a domain name. You can get that at godaddy.com for about $5.00 a year. 1.5GB server space, unlimited email accounts using your new domain name, 30GB bandwidth last I knew. You can put up forums and chats using easy to setup preinstalled programs. Also personal albums.
I use it for the Southwest Michigan Seek and Search Club site and am quite happy with it. http://www.swmss.org Not free but as close to free as it can get.
By the way, their online support is fast if the site is having a problem.
They support front page extensions and you do not have any add banners.
For my personal page I have used Tripod for the last 10 years. I pay to have the add banners removed though. I am considering purchasing another domain name and moving it to webhostingbuzz as well.

Thanks Bill for the suggestion. I decided to register my own domain name and host it at webhostingbuzz based on Dan's suggestion above. Geocities is good but it is too restrictive for what I am wanting to do. I could have saved $20 or so by using your suggestion so for folks who want to add some inexpensive storage space and keep their free accounts your idea is a really good one!

I used your's and Dan's suggestions and registered a domain name today. It will definitely be a while before I can get all of my coins scanned and uploaded to the new site. Thanks again for the great suggestion! I checked out your site and you have some great finds! If you ever get down to Indiana give me a shout and we can do some hunting.

I decided to get my own site. Looks like I have 1 GB of space now so I should be able to put all of my better coins and finds on the site! Thanks for the suggestions!

Don't blame ya! Dan sounds like he found a deal there... :)
