personal coin?

They are personalized coins, where someone takes a regular coin from circulation and puts their initials on it. They could just be scratched on,stamped in, or the whole side could be changed. They tend to be considered damaged goods by most collectors, but some love them. I have one on a seated dime, and one on a peace dollar. My grandmother found some nice gold coins in her safety deposit box earlier this year, while looking through them i noticed someone along the line had scratched their initials in it, really disappointed me. I can post some pictures of the seated and peace if you want them to compare, but I don't have access to the gold eagle.

I found the same type of personal coin about 3 weeks ago while coinshooting in my yard. Seems to be made of copper and is bigger than a nickel but a little smaller than a quarter. Old english style initials stamped D.W. on both sides. A neighbor thought it might a victorian era item. Really excited to see another one here!
