Persistence Pays Off With Confederate Infantry Button!

I got a new permission this week for a spot that should be excellent for Civil War relics. I've been wanting to ask on this site for a while now and got the chance Wednesday afternoon. Well I detected hard for 3 hours and only found a crusty Eagle button along with a ton of ring pulls. It was disappointing as I had my hopes up, but the property is large so I went back the next afternoon for another 3 hours. I couldn't find a single relic but lucked up on a nice sterling ring. I am now wondering if this place has been hunted hard over the years and everything left is just really deep. Yesterday I had about an hour to hunt so I went back to give it another chance. It started out the same with working row after row of silence. I finally got a decent signal and it was a dropped Merril Carbine bullet. So my hopes were back up and kept at it until I dug an old parasol piece. Just about time to leave I got a nice repeatable signal with some depth and I was excited to just dig anything. I cut through the rocky soil and I was so surprised to see that big block letter I laying there in the bottom of the hole. I picked it up and knew right away I had my first solid cast brass Confederate Infantry coat button! I took a few pictures and looked around in that area for a little bit but I decided to leave on a high note with a great first. I will continue to work this area hard in hopes to luck up on another great relic.

Way to go Dave! What a beautiful button. Next up is the buckle. Really nice ring as well. Glad to see you finding such great stuff Dave! BTW, I should have a new video out Thursday if all goes to plan. (It better! haha) ATB Greg

Sooper Dave, that was one Great find of the Confetrit' Block I button. Those are so cool when found. There is no doubt as to who lost these. This will look great in your Display. I have yet to find one after 38 years, but I'm still hoping I may come across one before I check out. Well Done and hunt this area slow.

Thanks Greg! I don't know what I would do if I dug a CS buckle but I would love the chance. Look forward to your next video.

Thanks Confetrit! Yeah I am pretty excited to add this to the collection. I hope you get a chance to dig one soon, Good luck!

Wow nice one, it's tough to keep hunting with no signals. My motto is I want to just find one good piece and you knocked it out of the park :beers:

Thanks Jeff. I am the same way, I want to find one keeper on my hunt. Sometimes it works out.
