I'm sure you guys have looked at an area and said ,"I wish I could detect there". Well I'm at that point. I have no problem approaching people. But, I'm stumped for words on how to approach someone and tell them I want to dig holes in your lawn , and find jewelry, coins, and old relics. Of course I'm making a joke but on the other hand that is what we do. I can't seem to get my head this idea. Any help would greatly appreciated .

I think the best way, if you are going to knock on their door, is to do it without your detecting gear in hand. They may think that you are assuming they will say yes. Introduce yourself ... explain what your hobby is ... and ask if it would be OK if you have a look around. Explain that anything you find is, of course, theirs. Because technically it is. Or offer to split what you find or buy it from them. They need to feel at ease letting you onto their property. And try not to dig any craters in their yard. If you stumble upon a good, deep signal, you may want to pass it up until you get a feel for the owner. Try and mark or mentally remember that deep signal for another visit.

If you have no problem approaching people but you are stumped for words , then U R half way there. How do U let the convincing words flow from your speech about getting permission? Land owners R all diifferent and the truth about your Quest is the Key. I'm not a door knocker, but I know from alot of the post I have read on the forums ,HONESTY about yourself and what your goal is allways WINS percent saying....It is my belief that everything works in your favor when you tellem the truth , even if it doesn't seem like it .. Wish I had the silver tounge when I approached people.
