Permission hunt in the cold, and the wind……

Managed a permission hunt of a residence where the guy living there now lived there in the 60s and I grew up with him from 1st Grade on. I havent been inside that place since the late 60s.
Found out the house was build in the 1890s and at some point moved N some 100-150 feet. A small hill of dirt in front of the house was used to fill in a depression where the house was moved thus leveling it with the newer ‘30s home lining the street. Brand new information to me.

Last night a huge wind storm blew thru and temps dropped from the 50s into the 30s today with wind gusts still in the 20-30 mph range. Buddy wants to watch and learn a little so hooked up second headphones and we went waltzing. First signal I get is a dime and up comes a 51S Rosie, gonna be an interesting day…… I only worked the side yard which was maybe 40x25’ and a short area just by the back door. To shorten the story I hit four quick wheats dated 52-58 and four Memorials dated 62-72. Dug a toy WW2 toy Jeep and a huge freaking square nail. Working towards the back door dug a rifle casing stamped REM-UMC 33CF! A 33 Winchester 4” deep, crazy…. Close by hit a solid 90s tone so curiosity took over, dug a solid heavy iron axe head. Theory here is those items had to be in that small hill that was moved to level the depression.
Buddy kept the axe head and case, the Jeep, and the wheats and I got the dime and the Mems. Oh yeah, we be going back as soon as the colder weather warms slightly…….No pics but buddy absolutely enthralled to get the older relics.

Kieth has never been married. He knows a little about a lot and a local history buff which is why I think he latched onto those older items. We know another local detectorist swept the place early last spring but Kieth said he didnt find much other than what the guy said was an old Chinese token. Going back today to continue then weather stops us until the weekend.
