People dumping their MXT's?

Old Katz

New member
Looked at Ebay today and noticed how many MXT's are for sale.
I wonder if people are trading them in for the new MXT Pro? Looks like some
real good deals on the MXT right now.
Katz

I imagine that's why most of them are up for sale at first I thought about it but after some thought I think I'll keep the one I have.
I like the idea of tones but personally I think 7 tones is a bit to many except to maybe cherry pick an area for ones wanting all targets but iron you'd still have to look at the screen so I really don't see any advantage in all the extra tones.

The MXT Pro is probably a good machine in its own right. But just not enough for me to move towards. I like my MXT and will not get rid of it for a good long time.

There are 7 tones total, but 3 of them are iron, so that leaves only 4 above iron...
The MXT Pro manual does not brake the tones down,, but if you will go to the Whites site,
and look at the M-6 manual, you can see where the tones brake..
Hope this helps..

I own a MXT and a few weeks ago purchased a Pro. With the tone ID this is one HOT detector , add a 6x10 coil and your set.

There's alot for sale because White's sold alot of them because they're great detectors! You don't see nearly as many T6's for sale. It's not because everyone is keeping them. It's because White's hasn't sold nearly as many of them. M2C.

Looks like I got "dumped on." Got one on the way from the "dump." LOL.... no offense Mr. Bill.

You're going to love it! Glad you got "dumped on"! :detecting: HH, Nancy

I think that the tones is an invaluable feature. I mainly use the M6 and the other day, borrowed a buddy's MXT and I had forgot how much I like not looking at the screen as much. The MXT having tones is a feature that me and my MXT friends have talked about before, and I think that those folks that get the Pro will like it. Just my two cents, so I better run and dug up new ones! HH

Has anyone thought about the tone mods that are out there for the mxt? I think it is only about $75.00 a lot cheaper than a new pro.

Where and who is doing the mods for the MXT you are talking about hadn't heard about them yet ?

Been a long time since I seen the post but I remember someone posting about that but I'm sure anyone could probably do a search and find it.
Beware though yes $75 would be cheaper if it turned out alright but allowing someone other than whites to work or modify a detector will void the warranty and the cost of repair is your baby then and for that reason alone I wouldn't even consider it myself.
I'm not saying anyone shouldn't go this route I just wanted to point out to ones like myself that has only had their unit for a few months and still under warranty.

Hi Rick ,,,I have to agree with you if you still have warranty I wouldn't do it ether . I was just wanting to know who was doing the work . It wouldn't bother me as I am poor and own three detectors and all are out of warranty and one is a M6 so have the sounds there already . But I Have been debating if I want to sell my MXT or not as I hardly use it since getting the M6 I like the sounds and am not the biggest fan of the threshold sound . So if I have anything done to my MXT its at my expense anyway so since no warranty might think about adding sound to it just for a change . I also have to remember I am getting old and the weight is something for me to consider as the lighter the better now days and my M6 is a little lighter than my MXT. But like you wouldn't recommend it if there's a warranty left on a machine .

What I like about the MXT is that in relic mode there are two tones. If I
have a good target and its next to or over the a bad target I get both tones.
One day I will get a brnd NEW MXT but not now. I would like to try out the MXT Pro just
to see if I am missing anything.

Katz,

I had a MXT for a few weeks and was able to swap it out for a MXT Pro.

Geez you guys... I love my MXT but now you got my curiosity up. With the days getting shorter, the backlight would be nice... I'd like to try one out . Jack

Since I'm thinking about selling the wife's hipmount MXT, I checked EB just now for comparative prices...Only 3 showed up after a search! Priced @ $380, $720 & 931, depending on accys/wear & tear.

Am I missing something?

Hummmm. Thats odd. Go back and when the Ebay page comes up just type in MXT METAL DETECTOR.
Don't type in anything else. Type in exactly the way I have it here. There should be a lot of MXTs on the page.
There is one there with four coils and carry bag starting bid at $349. Good luck if your hunting for a used MXT.
Right now its a buyers market.
