I am going to Pensacola, FL for the 4th of July. A few years ago, I heard a rumor that Pensacola had outlawed metal detecting on the beaches. Does anyone know if this is true? If there are any restrictions in Pensacola, I would appreciate knowing about them, if you would be so kind.
Thanks

I couldn't tell you, but if you go to their website, you could write them and ask. Just a suggestion.... HH, Nancy

There has been some talk from State Officials how they
would like to sponser state organized treasure hunts because of all the
sunken gold off the coast. They figure there are billions laying off the coast and it
would help fill the State coffers. Bad news for metal detectionest who want to
beach hunt.

It depends. If it is the site of a wreck they'll usually allow dry sand hunting, which is great just after a good storm. However, if it is at the site of a wreck you are not allowed to hunt in the water. As always you'll have to make sure that even dry sand hunting is allowed. And of course you'll have to make sure you are not on private property. You can do a search on-line of possible wreckage sites in the area that you will be visiting. If there are phone numbers listed I would give them a call to see if they have metal detecting restrictions in place.
As far as other sites I don't think so because we have several customers that hunt on the beach and I have yet to hear of any bans on metal detecting in the area.
