Found a 46 that oddly enough must be in AU (almost uncirculated)condition after washing off. Found older but this one has nice light toning great coin, Gregg.

HI

I have found, about every year made of the pennys. It was cool to find a 1909cent. Thats the oldest one. How about steel pennys have you ever found any of them?

n/t

Was this 1884 IH penny in my sisters yard with the Shadow X5 that had 5 rusty nails beside it in the same hole. It cleaned up real well with hot Peroxide being the ground was very sandy and not wet.
My oldest is a 1865 IH and I also have a very nice 1882 that looks like this 1884.

About four months ago I found a 1909 vdb (no mint mark) just about on top of the ground under a porch of an old house (still in use).

1911 ... but in pretty bad shape ... was my oldest coin for quite some time ...

I found a 1909 wheat penny at a friend's house with other whaet pennies and a couple of nice Mercury dimes. 1920 and 1928.

Farnum

The X5 is made by Troy Custom detectors, but not made anymore and Troy is working on a new model, but taking some time to finish as he will not release one until he know he has it 100% right.
The X5 retailed for over $1000 and has no meter and only one tone, but it had power and was a deep seeking detector that many liked for relic hunting, but was also made for coin hunting as it had a coin check on it to tell if the conductivity was lower than a nickle or higher then a zinc penny, this help telling the pull tabs from a coin.
When Troy comes out with a new model I will be one of the first in line for one if it is anything like the X2,X3 or the X5, they were great detectors.

Oldest wheat cent is a 1913, oldest US coin 1795 half cent, oldest coin 1694 William and Mary Half Cent. HH

WOW! cool.I found a 1909 penny, but not under a porch. I found mine about 2"inches down in the grown in the grown, by a flower gardon.

1910 I think.

My first wheatie i ever found was a 1914.

To tell you the truth... I really HATE finding wheaties. I'd rather find a 1960s silver dime than the average wheatie.

In fact... when I think of it.... I'd rather find a modern half eaten zinc penny than another wheatie. I can at least spend the zinc penny, but cant bring myself to spend a wheatie for some reason.

But... on an unknown site.... I dont mind finding wheaties as they tell the age of the site & that finding silver is possible.
