Pennies, Pennies, and More Pennies

Hi,

I'm still new to MDing but, I know I'm hooked. I've got two machines now and I try to hunt every chance I get. I have a question for the more experienced. The last 2 parks I've hunted I've hit one specific area where there were over 70 pennies. I got one nice wheat from one of them. The question is, why are there so many pennies in this one area in 2 different parks? Is this someones way of checking an area they hunt to see if someone has been hunting in the same park? Anyway, it just seemed odd. I have been trying to clean out all the trash and clad in these two parks so I can work my way down to better finds.

One can only guess why.I hit a spot in a play field that yielded 152 pennies in an area less than 3' in dia.My thinking is that there may have been some sort of local carnival,show,etc.and they spilled the box of pennies or perhaps it was a penny toss game located there.I have found several other areas with large penny spills.

i havent found yet but thats a mystery for sure. keep huntin you never know maybe you will run across a hole full of quarters. wouldnt that be nice

Thanks for the ideas. Went to one of the parks again today (actually it's an island with a public pavilion). Got two more wheats and some fishing lures. I know there has to be some great loot there somewhere. People have been camping, fishing, swimming, etc. in that area for years. There is even some Indian shell nearby. I'll post a pic of my first big find.

I hit a playground one time and I recovered 129 pennies in 40 minutes.

Here's another big penny day with a lot of nickels.

I think aliens drop them from the sky.
