Pennies, Jewelry, coils, etc. Clad/ Jewelry hunting.

Just from memory, the majority of my rings, Gold/ SIlver- Junk were found very close to . Sport field fences, around bleachers, pavilions, tot lots. These places are definitely where the pesty pennies, tabs & foil rule. Majority of the times using a 8" or smaller coil. A few, out in open practice fields, the rest at the beach or wading. Got to tell ya that in my area the tabs aren't replenishing as fast. But at 69 those pennies are wearing me out. Keeping track better than half my coins are pennies this year. All but 4 of my best jewelry found this year was mixed in in the nightmare zone. Up north (Canada) they quit making pennies, be interesting to see how that plays out. Just got to adapt to the times, I guess.

Once upon a time my senior year when I was studying for finals I walked a mile to the store to get me a nickel pack of Kool Aid,my Only vice at the time, had to walk the mile back Empty handed because they had gone to the Presweeten and I was 5 little pennies short.

Keep your pennies--never know when they will make a difference.

Considering one large gold mans ring might be worth a month of clad detecting or perhaps more that has to be taken into consideration. To each his own comes to mind..
Guess why those beep and dig units are still around...

I'm pretty sure there has been a bill floated on congress to eliminate the penny and the dollar bill...replacing the dollar bill with a dollar coin. I'm all for it...especially the dollar coin instead of bill. That would definitely increase my clad totals!

At the beach I dig everything that my Xcal does not discriminate out. And at times I do dig some of those items also. So I wind up with lots and lots of pennies. Thursday I dug $9.40 in clad coins and 53 stinking pennies. A lot of those pennies were zinc so I will clean all of them and throw the bad ones in the trash

When dirt I tend to step over zinc pennies because at nearly 77 years of age my energy level is no longer high enough to spend the day digging zinc pennies and pull tabs. I am sure I am missing some gold when dirt fishing but I am okay with that as I am still having fun just digging some clad.

Different Strokes for Different Folks and we are all different.

Generally speaking, I pass on pennies as well but if I have wanted to clear out an area suspecting there are deeper targets, I'll go ahead and get them out of the ground, along with other junk stuff in the ground and go back thoroughly detecting to get the deeper signals. Here, the older targets are pretty deep so you want to get rid of the surface stuff including pennies to get to the better targets.
