Pea gravel playgrounds - a question

Of those who run across these playgrounds with pea gravel (small stones) instead of sand, shredded tree bark, etc., have you had much luck finding anything?

I went to about 4 playgrounds and past by yet another one I had tried last year and the results have been very discouraging. I am thinking that (1) the stones keep the items on the surface longer and someone else picks up what is lost just shortly after the items are lost and (2) even if something is found it looks beaten half to death from being trounced between the mini-rocks.

What is your thoughts? Personally, I am giving up on any playground with pea gravel (and that is too bad because the more wealthy areas seem to have this stuff),

I think you are right about pea gravel showing dropped things more. I do find things there but not in abundance.

2 things = I have had good luck on old coins in pea gravel driveways and

I find 90% of my gold/silver jewelry in NON-wealthy places.

Steve in so az
