Bein out in the 'sticks' here junkies and thieves think we're easy pickins.
Many houses have been broken into and robbed mid day 'round here.I have been livin here 5 years now and
have caught them stakin me out 3 times .
( 4 countin yesterday)
Yesterday a young couple came walkin up my road
( there is no where to walk from or to 'round here)
and when they approached my drive way my dogs went BALISTIC.
I have a Rotty and a Shepard, ( both very loving unless ya have bad intentions)
and both dogs were bent on gittin a piece of both o' these people.
I saved the gal by gititn to her just before Liebchen, my Rotty, tore into her.
When i got up close to this gal i could see that without a doubt she was a junkie.
The guy jist stood there in the middle of the road with a nobody's home look in his eyes.
My gut, and my dogs, imediately told me that these two were no good.
But........i set my feelins aside and gave them the benefit o' the doubt.
The gal told me they ran out o' gas out on the highway about 200 yards away 'cross the farmers field
and did i have any gas i would sell to them.
I said " no, but i'll give ya some " so i went and fetched a 2.5 gallon full jug and took it to them.
He then opens his mouth and says.." i'll drive yer jug right back to ya " and off across the filed they went towards the highway.
They got to thier car, got right in and drove away.
I KNEW IT !!!!!!!!
I called the law and when they arived the Officer imediately shows me two mug shots and low and behold it was the very same couple.
He told me that what they do is knock. If no one answers they break in and rob ya. If someone answers they
say they ran out of gas and ask for gas while sizin ya up and if they feel yer vulnerable they attack.
The oficer said that the only thing that saved me was my dogs.
I told him that before i would allow my dogs to be destroyed for protectin me against some junkie i woud shoot the junkie
myself. I then told him that if they come back, the coroner will carry them away in RPH's.
He jist said.." don't let 'em bleed outside "

Soooo..allways pay attention to yer dog(s). They ALLWAYS know wassup.
And people ask me ..."why do you carry a gun ?"
Tho i allways pray that i NEVER have to use it.

If you live in a secluded area (no visible neighbors) your chances of being robbed etc. goes up about 10 fold. It's great to have a secluded place, but in these days and time wise precautions are a must.

Sign of the times...notice how the young are a lot bigger and stronger and meaner than ever? They have no fear/respect for grown men like we did...luckily, they have no endurance either, and like DC/id said, head on a swivel, keep your personal zone clear to either fight or run. The druggies are not living in reality, consequence or fear is buried along with any hope for a future. Glad you were there, and you have some great dogs, Jim!
Sometimes an opportunity comes along to turn a youngster onto the right path in Life, take that opportunity if you can. I know y'all do already..
