pawn shop gold destination

What they do not sell over the counter they sell to the refiners. Pay you 50 to 60 % and sell for 98%.

Most they will try to sell on site since there is considerably more to made out of their case. Otherwise ....... ya a refinery like some of us do, such as ARA.

I found a ring in the water at Lido beach that was Gold......18K and had a silver like band through the middle. It was marked 18K PLAT. I took it to a pawn shop in Sarasota Florida. They told me it was 18 K plated....and would give me $50 for it.....I knew better.

I took it to a jewelry store and they gave me $450 for it. It was 18 K gold with a PLATINUM band.

Never ever trust a pawn shop. They will rip you off every time. That is how they make their money.....ripping people off one at a time....almost every time.

Agree, except I'd delete the word almost.

If youre not trying move stolen goods, I see no reason to visit a pawn shop. ;)

Ditto on the above comments. Pawn shops are the worst place to take your gold. They have the advantage because most of their customers are usually very desperate for any kind of cash to get themselves out of a financial bind, also for people that have just made bad financial decisions with no where else to go except a pawn shop. They provide a service, can't blame them for that and no one forces the customers to go there, but as stated before, the general consensus is ARA is the best way to go to get the best return for your gold finds:thumbup:

Hear that. Found this nice silver and 10k ring a couple of years ago. The pawn shop guy said I had a nice $100.00 ring. He puts it on his scale and offers me $6.00, so I wear it now.

Pawn shops will NOT rip you off. I worked at one for a few years. They offer you a price. If you decide to take it YOU ripped YOURSELF off. I admit they thrive off the people that are hurting, ignorant of what they have, or need money fast and have nobody to turn to. Most have nobody to turn to because they screwed their family over.

On the same token. Do you know how many people take stuff to the pawn shop that works for a while and then dies after it warms up, like laptops and TV's? They are trying to get money for a piece of junk.

I would never take anything to a pawn shop. I agree they sell their plain gold to ARA or equivalent. They also try to make the most money on whatever someone brings in. But they will offer you a low ball price. You just have to be smart enough to laugh and walk away.

The pawn shops take advantage of ignorance. That is a rip off. That is in my mind, theft. They will take advantage of you if you let them. Yes, you are right though. You need to let them rip you off.

I always knew that pawn shops were a place to take gold and get scammed . I just wanted to know where THEY took theyre gold especially ,where I live ,in Canada-- thanks ,and happy hunting

yahoo search for Canada gold refinery. Wouldn't suggest mailing 1lb the first time trying it out though. Better to be safe than sorry.
