Pattern File and Mode Files

I am a noob too but here is what I gather: A mode file contains settings and a pattern file. A pattern file is just the discrimination pattern and does not contain any other settings.

For example when you upload Bill_S's trashy park mode file to your ETRAC, it uploads all the settings and the pattern file. If you just upload his pattern file, you keep the settings that are already active on your machine but can select his discrimination pattern to use with your existing settings.

That is exactly right, and then lets say you use a certain mode file and you really like the settings but you want to try a different pattern (Discrimination) file or you want to makeyour own. Just either upload or create your own in a slot for discrimination and go to it and use "Combine" to mix the pattern file with a mode file that has certain settings you like. You will now have your own discrimination file mixed with a mode. The mode file that you use will be overwritten in the discrimination area. Very easy to do once you try it.
