Hello all. Any GT users have the Patriot Target Pro meter? Thinking about getting one. I guess I have awhile to decide considering it's January in Wisconsin (lakes to hard for my Excal and ground to white for my GT). Any and all responses appreciated. PS. Just got my Excal back from Minelab repair, Great people to work with took care of me in record time and seem to have gone over everything including new knob, o rings and coil.

hi klye,
before i got my GT i was investagating all the opinions for the GT cause i need pretty much all the props i can get. i was very much considering the patroit meter myself and talked it over with a few guys on the form who've used the meter and gave me their feed back. now personally im a meter reader but also sounds are the major part of detecting. they said its a very good meter but also the digisearch meter is also a very good meter as are the sunray's cant get anymore meters. i settled on the digisearch meter and have found it to be a very good lock on meter so thats what i went with. the price on the patriot i felt was a little to high for me being id rather spend the money on a s-1 probe. a sunray s-12 coil for beach detecting. i have a explorer xs that i like for land detecting and have all the props for that. all i need to do now is find some really good targets to balance out all the money ive thrown into this hobby lol. i still consider myself very green to this hobby and trying to learn everyday.{ too much coffee this morning lol }.
well anyway if you go for the meter get back and let us know what you think of it. im interested.

And that is important if you are going to hunt parks where you want to dig only good targets. My Hunting partner also uses a Patriot and he likes it so much, he even uses it at the beach. I prefer the sweep dial on the Patriot to the "jumpy" digital readouts. I also have a Sun Ray DTI 2 meter that I think is superior to the Minelab meters, but I like my Patriot better. It locks on a lot better. Just my 2 cents worth, I know some folks like the digital readouts better. Everybody has their personal preferences, that's what makes the world go 'round. HH,

Best meter out there. Its dead-on accurate. I use it all the time with my GT, even at the beach, its great on
wet sand too. One of my best MDing investments made!!!

I had to try one last year on my GT I had and I have to be different than what you are reading as I never found mine to be that accurate compared to the Sun Ray, the Night Hawk or even the rescaled Minelab digital meter. It is good though, but I found that I couldn't tell me close tone targets with the Patriot like I can with the digital numbers. The digital numbers are faster reacting I feel is why this is compared to the Patriot meter. I also found that it puts the screw caps and the zinc penny and IH as the same reading as a 176 and a 178 reads the same on the Patriot meter, or looks like they are in the same position where as the digital you can see the difference.
Maybe it is because I am so used to the digital and know what it is telling me with the numbers and know how coin will react on the digital meters along with the tones of the detector as it is very accurate.
The Patriot has a very good back light and the auto calibration is a nice feature for those that need this, This meter is well built with some great quality and this meter is nice as you don't have to remember numbers as much, but once you know your numbers on the digital meter I find it works so easy and so accurate and faster responding to those deep target and those close to trash.
That is how I feel about this meter and how it compares to the digital meters.
