Hit a couple of spots that have never given up much and today was no exception but glad I went. Do wish I had taken my camera. The one park I hit is a nice park with a small lake with a stream running into it - and it's the stop off and gathering point for a vast array of birds. Today there must have been 500-600 birds there, seagulls, ducks, and Canadian honkers. The seagulls outnumbered the others by far ( probably 300-400 ). They covered one end of the park so much that you couldn't walk through them without kicking them out of the way. You had to wade through them. The gulls here are huge and almost the size of the geese and they have no fear of humans. We even have them out in the street in front of our house once in awhile and we all feed them. WE also have a batch of resident crows and ravens and about a half-dozen wild parrots that drop by every so often.
The lake and stream at the park were loaded with ducks ( some with exotic color schemes ) and geese and I had to detect around a gaggle of honkers in a spot or two. I was talking to a couple of them and they answered back and followed me around gawking at me intently and wondering who or what I was and how I knew their language.
Had a stiff breeze blowing and it was difficult to hold the little sniper coil in one spot, especially when pinpointing. It waved around like the leaves on a tree. Some of the coins were found right up next to a steel merry go round, something you can't do with the larger coils. Didn't find much but it was an enjoyable couple of hours or so - just me and the birds.
