Pat. Pend.1910 silver plated spoon found today

It isn't much but better than nothing. Came in near silver but a little squirrely probably due to being bent.
That poor farm wife probably wondered: Where is all my silverware going?
I found another half a soup spoon that looks to be older. No markings on the underside.
Found some iron square nails too.

There used to be an older home from the early 1800's here. When the Hough's bought the farm in 1920 they tore the old house down, saved as much lumber from the old house and nails and built a two story.
Some of those square nails must have gotten tossed.

I have never found a coin here going back to the 1800's. Maybe folks were real penny pinchers back then?

Nice spoon. I've heard the farmers back then didn't carry loose change while doing the farm work, but who knows. Good luck when you go back there.

Thanks, DougF.
I live on the old farm. Years ago when I got the first Explorer I found my first coin ever, a mercury dime. My daughter was about 3ish and I remember yelling to her in excitement (she was upstairs) what I had found.
I put on my much bigger Sunray coil and went out into the field, that is ready for planting, where there used to be an orchard. Went due west, didn't find anything but some iron, then stopped, went due south and found a '65' penny. Better than nothing. LOL.

My biggest find here was a huge grinding wheel about 3 feet wide. Now, you may ask, how would a detector pick up a huge grinding wheel? It was in the front yard about 2 foot or so down and underneath of it were some 2 foot long iron spikes for breaking up soil I guess. So my detector picked up those spikes. That was about 15 or so years ago. The grinding wheel is still at my back door.
