The past two hunts I was on were probably in my top three for the year. I'm done now til spring because my wife and I had a baby boy last Monday! That's a whole new adventure in patience in itself, but we're getting into a routine now....
Anyway, the first hunt was at an old church site that's now somebody's front yard. I got permission here on a whim over the summer and only hunted it once, producing an indian head penny. I decided to go back after striking out at a couple of other places nearby and struck it big this time. I found a particularly concentrated area that for whatever reason totally killed it. Included in the picture are the following:
Top Row: 1927 King George V British Penny, 1954 silver Washington quarter
Second Row: 1936 Buffalo nickel, 1883 seated dime (bucket list coin for me...the ONLY thing not worn off is the date. It's the smoothest coin I've ever found), 1912D Barber dime
Third Row: 1929 buffalo nickel, 1896 indian head penny, 1907 indian head penny
Bottom: 1903 'V' nickel (another bucket list coin. Not much detail but I'll take it).
The other photos are of the single coin on my last night out. I struck out all day and ended up back at a house I hunted last year and this year probably 10 times. Each time there I've pulled something, usually a buffalo or a merc, and each time I've been there I have gone through this big side yard several times, only producing wheats. That evening I got an 03-46 hit and dug this walker (a lifer for me) at less than two inches. I have NO IDEA how I missed it all those other times (along with the 2 other people who have been there with me).
Incidentally, is 03-46 an odd reading for a walker? I've seen them listed on the spreadsheets as being higher, up in the 9, 10, 11 ranges but this reads 03-46 above ground also (as does my barber half).
