Past Three Days Finds

Well my ring streak is over in a big way. Two three hour days in a row with no ring. Not even junk! That breaks a 16 day run.

FWIW. Thursday, Friday and Saturday (today) 12 hours total detecting. 345 Coins for $40.18. That's $3.35 an hour or almost 29 coins an hour. Not too bad. Thursday I found the two rings pictured. The Sac Dollar was today and I consider it a good (decent) find. I would post pictures of the coins but they are in the tumbler and I forgot to take photos Thursday and Friday. I actually like looking at pictures of other peoples clad finds.

The gold ring is unmarked but I had it tested. It is 10k and weighs 4.2 grams. 2.7 dwt. The silver ring is gigantic! It is about a size 12 or 13 and weighs 18 grams! There is a small ball of silver missing from one side as you can see in the photo. Alternated between half and dollar on Ace 250. I think the stone is an Onyx.

No detecting tomorrow but maybe Monday.

Good luck gang!

Chris

Nice finds.

I have a Garrett Ace 250 and have nothing but nice things to say about it. It took me only about 5-7 hours to become highly proficient with it, it's very light, battery life is good, and depth is adequate. Depth has been very dependant on ground conditions in my experience. Damp soil is so much better than dry in my experience. I was fortunate that we only had one two week dry spell this summer so I got in a lot of detecting. Found many coins at 6-8 inches. At the start found many pop and beer cans at 12-14 inches. Target indicator is very accurate and very handy, pinpointing is usually very accurate and has gotten better the more I dig, depth indicator is good for a reference but I rarely rely on it. If it indicates 6 inches the object is deeper than a similar object indicating 2 inches. Found around 4000 modern coins, 8 paltry silver coins, 6 gold rings, 22 silver rings, 6 other pieces of silver jewelry, and tons of other interesting stuff. For slightly over 200 bucks it's a lot of metal detector and if she doesn't like it you're only out that much. I had myself convinced to upgrade but I am going to stick with this machine until at least next year. I have had offers of $150 bucks for it should I decide to get another detector but I don't think I would ever sell it. We've spent a lot of time together. I figure by the end of this year it will have paid for itself 5-6 times and having owned 2 other detectors, I've never had that kind of return. I have also read a ton of this forum and there are many posts where authors list all the detectors they own and how they go back to their Ace 250 over and over. I'm sure a few of them will have things to add to this post

I'm now on my longest dry streak of the summer at 4 days with no silver or gold. Found a religious medal tonight that got me hoping but I think it's gold plated. Have found close to 50 bucks in modern coins over those 4 days, though!

Best of luck and I hope you'll post some pics of your finds.

Chris
