I pulled my little ruse again yesterday, and managed to get an extra three hours hunting time in. There is a street in town that's been torn up for infra-structure improvements, so I figured I go and hit that and see if I could get anything.
After searching the ripped-up easements for a little while, I managed to get a Wheat, a '48D. Shortly thereafter, I eyeballed a marble peeking at me from the dirt. It was a nice red/white/yellow-orange patch. Not to long after that, I managed to spot another one, the light blue/clear catseye. I'm not sure on the maker, but the clear glass is just that, clear, not that greenish-tint that the Japanese marbles have. Here they are:

I got to talking to one of the residents, and got the scoop on the history of the neighborhood. Seems that the original landowner had several acres, and used most of it as a private dump, which is now 18" under fill dirt. Some good bottles have come from this area. If I ever see any digging going on there, I'm there!
Now, I mentioned infra-structure improvements. There's two going on, the gas lines, and the phone lines. I started finding a lot of junk laying around the old telephone poles, mainly, copper. Lots of it! And it's all corroded green, so I know it's been there awhile. I may have to go back and get more.
I decided to go to a HS soccer field that's not to far from my job. I'm not sure how old the school is, but on the soccer field, second coin up was this:

All right, first silver dime of the year! Nothing really exciting, but I love seeing that silvery gleam against the dirt.
Today, we had a tournament, so I had to work. When I got out, I headed out to the spot I've been working for some time now. I decided to try one of the other sled runs, and see if I could get anything. I GB'ed my CZ, and a few feet later, got a nice High Coin signal that indicated 4". I dug it, checked, target's in the hole. Probed around with my Vibraprobe, nothing. I started prying divots of dirt out from the sides, when I saw that lovely silvery color again. Here's what I got:

Now, I have this habit of checking my holes after I recover a coin, and for a good reason, I hadn't even closed the hole, but had pocketed that '47D roosie, when I swept my coin over the hole again. PING! Still something down there! Probed with my Vibraprobe again, and again, nothing. I started pulling out divots of dirt again, from the bottom right side. Suddenly, AGAIN, I saw that silvery gleam. Here's what I rescued from a shallow grave:

Hot Diggety! Three silvers in two days! Just to play it safe, I swept my coil over the hole again. Yup, you guessed it, there's another coin down there. Further excavation of the lower-right corner uncovered a '41 Wheat. I checked for more coins, but nothing.
I got some good news earlier today as well. I've been working on permission to hunt a 150 y-o mansion not to far from my little honey-hole, as well as a 100 y-o church. Things are looking good for both spots right now. Hopefully, soon, I'll be posting some IH's and early silver!
