Part 2: Pics of the 1853 Seated Half-dime etc....As promised

Hey folks....As promised, are the pics of the 1853 Seated Liberty half-dime, 58 cal minie ball, and the 1878 Indian Head Penny found in an old field yesterday...The pic of the IH didn't come out as well as I had hoped but you get the idea...This field was a great place to get a good education on how the T2SE works because there is the right amount of trash, and enough good stuff to keep you digging without becoming overwhelmed...The half-dime came at 73/76 on the VDI scale...I wasn't expecting a silver coin with those numbers so I was pleasantly surprised.....I was hunting with Sensitivity @ 85, Disc 17, BP tone.....I think I will leave the Disc as low as possible when I go back to this field on Sunday, and crank the sensitivity as high as I can stand it and see what happens...I almost wet myself when I realized that I had a seated coin!!!

Ric....I haven't had my T2SE very long but I have really been impressed with my "black beauty"...The half-dime was recovered at 6" down, and it came through loud and clear.....I also found 3 clad quarters, and 2 clad dimes in the same hole in this field...I almost didn't dig the signal because it almost blew my darn head off! However, I noticed that the signal did not overload the circuitry, and it gave me a depth of 2"....Taking this information into account, I decided to dig and was rewarded for my effort.....Learned not to walk away from the loud beeps as I have done it the past with other machines.....I love my T2SE.

Thanks for the info Keith. Im doing ok with mine so far. Coming from the ATpro it is different. Was used to listing for the high tone for good stuff. Now retraining my P brain to listen for the zip zip of the T2se. Love the weight an ease of swinging. HH

Ric.....I don't know if this helps or not, but based on my experiments, and if you're strictly into coin hunting...my experiments suggest that the only numbers one would dig (barring the elusive gold coin or small gold ring) would be numbers ranging from 55 thru 96 on the VDI scale....I took a denomination of every old coin that I have pennies (zinc and copper), nickles, silver dimes (and half-dimes :clapping:), silver quarters and silver halves...(haven't found a silver dollar...yet!), and a silver 3-cent piece, and air-tested them against the VDI scale, and none came in below the 50s...This is not to say none will, but even the minie balls (76-79) and the Civil War buttons (60s and 70s) came in above the 40s on the VDI scale...I have and will continue to dig the lower numbers to see what I am likely to get, and of course this also depends on the trash level and how many signals one is prepared to dig...I know that I am more likely to dig more of the trashy signals in an area where there is not as much trash in comparison to an area that is practically littered with them---Motivation and site interpretation has a lot to do in the decision "to dig or not to dig"-- that is the question. Just something to think about.

That is one very blinging 1/2 dime
