Park Personnel Lookin' out for me, in a GOOD way.

Hit the local park here in Fort Collins, CO. This park gets alot of use with 4 softball fields with lights, 4 volleyball courts, 4 racquetball courts, 4 tennis courts, 8 basketball courts, multiple kiddie soccer fields a lake (no swimming, darn) a tot lot and picnic facilities. It is located 1/2 mile from Colorado State University so it gets a lot of use.

I'm swinging away with the AT Gold and a Park Person in a grounds cart comes flying across the pitch and stops next to me. Uh-oh, I'm busted? NO, he proceeds to ask if I've found anything good. No, just a few coins ( 83 Rosie dime at 8", I love this AT Gold). The reason he (John) came over to me was to warn me that they had applied fresh pesticides that morning and that I should wash up thoroughly when I finished.

What an incredibly nice thing to do!! I was floored. I've been run out of similar parks in Denver. I proceeded to tell John what a nice park he had and thank him for his thoughtfulness.

So a Big Shout out to John and Fort Collins Park Department.

You hear a lot about people getting banned, asked to leave, digging large holes with obvious consequences and so forth. Your posting is a breath of fresh air. Thanks for a good post. :)

Glad to hear of the positive encounter! I've had mostly good ones around here but the occasional unwelcome one as well. I've had several park personnel follow me for a bit and then tell me I was welcome to come hunt any time, others they had run off. I hope I always leave a positive reputation behind me!

Ive looked up and had cops on each side of me twice but didnt kick me out just checked my plugs.
People call in and they respond. They seem interested in the treasure. Our sport is very innocent I think, and we do pick up trash........

Ive had police check me to make sure Im not dumping garbage. Once they see Im not and see me detecting they are quite interested in the hobby. Great guys. I usually pull out my finds to show off. Most of them know me by now and just stop by to see how the searching is going. HH. Matt

awesome story!

i make every effort to clean a place up. personell see me picking trash up all over the place and have commented to me on it. get known as the guy who goes out of his way to help them do their job! trust me, this reaps dividends you won't see coming.

doing the right thing is always a good thing.
