Park hunt produces class ring and US button same park!

Habanero

This was my second time at this particular park but I tried a different area than before. Pulled the US collar button near a creek, rang up like a quarter. Not sure if it's similar composition but it's practically the same dimensions so I'm sure that's how it came up. From my brief research it looks like its a 1910-1937 type I or II bronze or gilt collar disc; pretty cool. The class ring is an Aggie ring that I pulled from some very heavy trash that was producing a very jumpy tone but seemed solid so I dug and out popped this very nice, large Texas Aggie ring! Turns out to be 29 grams of 10k gold so it's a bit beefy IMO. Has a name inscribed inside, already trying to get in touch with the former owner but I reckon it's been lost about 5 years by my estimates and was about 3" down. He has likely already ordered and replaced his class ring but am sure he would much rather have the original ring over a replacement. Some of these folks are not easy to get in touch with so what I may end up doing is sending it to the Association of former students to let them take care of returning it to the fella that lost it. Anyway, wanted to share with y'all; looks like I need to go back with a much smaller coil because the trash was quite heavy. Was running the stock coil with pro mode, iron audio at 35 and the first notch taken out for my settings at this particular spot.

Those are some great finds, Habanero! I'm sure he'll really appreciate your generousity in returning his class ring.

Excellent find!!
Knowing Aggies like I do, he'll want that ring back. They are a prideful bunch!! Be patient about finding the owner though. The longest I've had to wait for a reply from a university on a ring return was 2 1/2 months, but they finally came thru.
