Moved to a new town last Summer that has a population of 969. Our new banker happened to mention the super 4th of July celebration at the local park. She said they have as many as seven thousand people attend. That got my attention. I live four blocks from the park which doesn't appear to be super old, although there are several large mature trees. I found a satellite photo of the park during the last celebration and pinpointed what appeared to be several hot spots. We have had a mild Winter here in Missouri, so I started to hunt the park fairly regularly. Haven't found any "old" coins, but have found a lot at the 2" to 3" depth, so I know the park hasn't been hunted for a number of years. I've found at least $25 in clad the past five months. Yesterday, I got one of those sweet mellow deeper signals that read 82-83 on my AT Gold meter. At four inches deep I pulled out this very nice 1964D Roosevelt dime. It was only the second silver dime found so far. Shortly after I recovered two Presidential One Dollar coins about a foot apart. I'll keep working the park. You never know what you will find.
