Well i used to post here when i had my Ace250- and now the whites site is down so ill post here , I went to a park on the not so good side of town with my M6 , hunted about 1 1/2 hrs & found 4 qts 4 dms 1 nik 16 pnnys 1 dog tag shaped like a milk bone dog bisket, & YES my 28th ring nothin fancy but im stoked, i was having a hard time finding the 28th so im happy Z

Looks like a good hunt. WTG on the 28th ring. I got a pleasant surprise the other night. I was going thru my rings and other jewelry to send it in to ARA and what I thought was a sterling silver ring was in fact a 10K ring. It must have been in the water many years.

I wonder if you would describe "bad side of town" for me?
There are place near and around where I live that I would NEVER
go to, regardless of whats in thge ground.Robt2300

The bad side of town here is the area between what we call the Stop-N-Rob and the Murdermart...

I only get to hunt it about once per year...thats very early in the am on a day when theres big wind, rain and sleet/snow...usually in November, right before the ground or chips freeze...didnt have the right conditions this year...it was warm, then BAM, real cold...and everything froze...anyway, its usually good hunting for clad/jewelry...BUT, a fellow cant stay in one spot long, must hunt fast, head on a swivel...if theres a cop sitting in his car nearby, that helps...Nice job Z! glad you made it out alive and with all your gear!

There is a school that was torn down in my old home town and I wanted to detect there, but they found a man who lived near there beaten to death and I took that as my cue to look for safer places to detect. Having that in mind, the Bible tells us there is no safety in this world. Keep your eyes and ears open wherever you are. If you have a hunting buddy, that's even better. Stay safe, GL & HH & God bless.

Many times I have felt eyes on me. And had to bail. But also many times people have got close behind me to watch especially hunting on the Beach. Talk about creeping you out.

This is why I carry my gun when I hunt in the woods here in VIRGINIA.
IT's a different world today. " be careful."

When hunting in a 'bad' area, we appreciate the risks as mentioned above in this thread.
However, we must also be vigilant hunting our regular areas, where we are more likely to have our guard down because of our familiarity and comfort with those spots.
So many times watching the news I've seen crime reports that included the obligatory microphone-in-the-face of a resident proclaiming ". . .but it always seemed like such a nice neighborhood. I never thought of something like that happening HERE. . ."

During my years as a criminal defense attorney I've come to learn how many crimes are crimes of opportunity.

Listen to your inner voice. If you feel uncomfortable in a situation, get out.

having said that, this is a hobby, and it IS supposed to be fun. No need to be paranoid, just don't make yourself an easy target. Keep your head up and do a 360 before dropping down to dig a plug. Making eye contact with those nearby puts them on notice you are aware of their presence makes the baddies move on to an easier target.
HH and let's stay safe!
Cheers
