Painting Coils???

New member
Have any of you ever painted a coil? I bought a used coil that someone has written on with some kinda gigantic red paint marker. I was thinking of spraying over it. Does anyone know of any reason this would degrade the coil or its performance? We are talking a coat or two of normal spray paint. I Just wanted to ask here... surely its been done before.

I don't see any issues unless you use some older lead based paint.
Many have coated coils with truck bed sealer products to protect them with no problems in the past.
If you just want to paint it I have had very good luck using Krylon Fusion on several projects.

Bitte.

I paint my water hunting coils white for better visibility. .. read the label to make sure it has no metal in the paint... i have another coil i didn't want to paint so i just put a few wraps of white duct tape around a few areas of the spider coil , worked good but the tape wears off after like 10 hunts...

Years ago when my daughter was in dental hygienist school she bought a set of used plastic model teeth. They had markings made with permanent marker on them from the previous owner. I tried various solvents to remove the markings without success, then I tried Hoppe's Number 9 Nitro powder solvent made for cleaning firearms. It worked great at removing the marker and it didn't hurt the plastic. You may want to try this before you paint the coil.
