Painting a 13" Ultimate?

Just mounted a new Ultimate on my ET today and took it out for a short test drive. 67 quarter at 12"+ and a 40 wheat at 9" both not flat and the wheat was on edge in the hole but still with decent tones several ways. Think I gonna like this coil. Not sure I can get use to the white color though. Has anyone painted their Ultimate?

If you paint your coil first test spray a piece of cardboard and check it for metal based ingredients in the paint. Some bedliner spray will contain these ingredients. HH :minelab:

The real reason i went with a black NEL Tornado instead of a white Ultimate.

Keep in mind that white reflects heat energy and some other radiation from the sun theoretically keeping the coil cooler and more stable.

I've heard of guys using bedliner paint for cover coils and it might be worth it on the ultimate. The coil cover is kinda thin. But I was just considering a good Krylon plastic paint for the coil. LOL mascard1... I only had it out for and hour or so and yeah it's not white anymore.

Paint it...looks good..and expresses yourself. Make sure you don't use any type paint with a metallic element in it though. I'd use epoxy paint...done it many times...put on a few coats...looks nice.

Brad....I bought it from KellyCo. Your internet ad showed a black Coil and didn't offer it in colors. I really expected to receive a black one.

Here's a Thought! Don't know how it would work or if it's even a good idea!
Get some MEK (Methyl ethyl ketone) and mix it with some Black plastic that you have laying around
until it melts into a liquid thick enough to coat the coil properly and immerse your coil in it up just below the coil cord and then let it dry.
Now you have a black coating all over your coil..This is what is used to re seal my old vintage coils

you bought it just recently? I remember when we found out we had a ton of black ones almost 2 months ago, I remember responding in the other ultimate coil thread about it for the etrac. I just double checked, we ran through the black ones and we never got any more black ones in. I can not explain the reason why we ever received the black ones, but they were always supposed to come white to keep the coils cooler when hunting in the sun.

I would like to say Thanks to KellyCo Brad for not only explaining a bit about the white/black situation with the Ultimate coils but also for PMing me and offering to exchange mine "no questions ask".(They do have a few black in stock) Since I'm not sure what effects this white /black coil thing will have on possible overheating of this coil I let Brad know I'm keeping the white. I guess it could be worse..... at least it's not Pink or something. Thanks again to KellyCo and Brad for some great Customer Service.

No problems, as I said, we will not be receiving the black ones at this time unless they decide to just randomly send us more. They were all packaged in the "White box" where it shows there should be a white coil inside, so it most likely was an error altogether and they fixed it. We have about 50 of these coils in stock and me going through them, I only found 1 black one left (possible 1 more since I looked through about 30 boxes out of our 50...but only found 1 black). I pulled it to the side for Hunter just in case he did want to swap. But we do have 1 black as far as I see, although the company says the white will keep the coil cooler and help performance. There is no way to request black, but I will try to keep this one to the side if someone is really wanting to get the last one here. PM me to see if it is still available.

I was shocked when I ordered mine and it came in black. My rep didn't even know it was going to be black lol. It was a nice surprise. I haven't taken mine off since I got it. In my soil it's made a big difference. Especially on deep coins. Numbers don't always look right but definitely gives me the "diggable" tone. I need to get off my lazy butt and start uploading some more vids to my YouTube channel.
