Got this 8.1 gr "p4sr" stamped ring this am...from what I can find out, its a mix of Plat, Gold, Palladium, and Silver...Anybody know what its melt value is? Probably more silver than anything since it hit like silver. The other ring hit like gold but is junk...

Think they just swept up the floor of all the shavings and threw that one together, kinda like a Hinze 57 of rings.....Nice one though!

Yeah Bob..I thought it might be chrome since they hit high too...its 80% silver, and then small amounts of the other precious...Some sort of trick a jeweler came up with. I returned a class ring today that I found in late July, since I had to drive to meet the people for the handoff, and was near to Lake, I hit it again for another junk ring and this new Jplug that was drifting into shore...I might go back out this evening..the water temp is perfect 65ish! I've been hunting the backside slopes of the sandbars in waist to chest deep water with the AtPro. The sandbars as you know are constantly moving, just a few of mine have moved maybe only 20' inshore. The thing is a fellow would not know where they usually are if a guy did not hunt the area as often as we do. Takes time to figure out how a beach moves throughout the year, don't it? And, theres lots of sand between pings.:detecting:

Wow that's a heavy ring, If its mainly platinum (this is possible) it will be worth a lot of bucks, I've got a platinum ring that's worth

Hey WW...no. its got a very small percentage of Plat, a little gold, and a little palladium with the majority 80% being silver...so I guess we will call it "silver".:ranting:..it was something I have never come across before though, so I learned something today at least, I doubt even a refiner would want it.
