I must admit that I was almost afraid to open the box after that rifle that Badger posted, but under all the mung and drool (that's motocross talk ) there is a solid and complete rifle! The photos show a lot of nasty stuff that looks like flaws but under those 150 years of crud it is a good rifle, We have grandkids this weekend, so I have not done much to the thing yet, however, I took a cotton rag and some denatured alcolhol to the stock and metal parts and a lot of the nasties came off. The wood lacks any major dents or rot and is solid. The metal will take a little cleaning to get through the baked on oven grease and appears to be fairly rust free. It does not have the original butt plate, but I can age the new one look old with a little work. I am very satisfied with the condition and was surprised by how good the thing is. Now the fun begins! look out crud........INCOMING!!!!! DC

.One thing you guys buying these rifles should drop rod down the barrel to make sure its not loaded. If it sounds like its hitting iron your OK,but if it sound flat you may want to get a worm in there and pull the ball out.I've had two or three old rifles come in for repair that were still loaded.
