Thought I would try a little contest...P.A.T.H. members only. I have a weighted silver candle stick holder. The weight has been removed...leaving only the silver... closest guess gets the silver.weighed on digital scale in oz..It is approx 3" tall and 3 1/2" around. Weighed to the closest hundredth of an ounce. 1 guess per member in the subject line. Contest to end on Feb 14 at midnight.Winner will get silver at Feb. meeting. Good Luck!! McLucky

Congrats Daryl!! It amazes me how little silver there really is in something like this. Thanks to all the guessers!

Thanks Steve! Great contest!!!

Shoot, I've sold bracelets with more sterling than that. :surprised: Very surprising. Really makes one think.

Wow! That is very surprising. Thanks for the contest and lesson.

Thanks Steve. Your right about the small amount of silver in pieces like this. Its a very thin skin of silver over the weighted material. For anyone wanting to scrap weighted sterling pieces I recommend eye protection and heavy gloves. Its also a good idea to check the Ebay value of your weighted piece before you pound on it. Sometimes it has a higher collector value than silver value.
