Only got out for 30 minutes or so before dark but went to a site that is in the middle of our town, about 1/2 acre in size. Started as a small Union Army camp, progressed to having church picnics and then to small neighborhood playground. With some grading, "good soil" is over 3 feet deep in some places. Anyway this place has been pounded hard for over 35 years to the extent that I am the only one that goes there any more and then only to try out new machines. The ground absolutely has so many small iron pieces it is as if the ground is "alive". Enter the F-75...Default setting, discriminate set at zero and the tone set at Delta Pitch. DP gives you a higher pitch audio as the ID number increases. Once I started hunting, the sound in the headphones was unreal but after a few minutes I started "tuning" out all of the low tone iron sounds. It wasn't long until I heard the first higher pitched audio...swept it a few times both ways and got iron and consistant high-pitch...dug it...1919 wheatie...within 5 minutes the same thing happened again. Low audio/higher audio..this time is was a 1916 wheatie.. These 2 coins weren't that deep but had been missed because they were masked by iron adjacent to them. I can only attribute 3 reasons for finding them and missing them with everything else before. 1. I just didn't walk over them before..Highly unlikely 2. DD Coil...questionable..used Quatro-Explorer II, Tesoro, and White's and was using DD coils. 3. The processor is so fast that it can "digest" targets as they pass under the coil.. Some of you 75 owners try this and see what you can do to a site that has been heavily hunted... I tried turning the disc. up to 10 but the audio response dropped dramatically. Seems that to use zero discrimination allows the machine to run "full blast." If you try this, report your findings...
BTW, With the disc. at zero, you will also soon tune out the small high-pitched sounds that the machine is seeing. You will definitely recognize a different audio, good target. Love the backlight too..Best to all, Richardntn

Here is a setup that has been tried, and tested with good results.

It was in a plowed field.

Plowed Field Mode.

Discrimination set to 0.

Use 2 tone mode.

Set Sensitivity to 90.

Were you running 0 disc @ first? You said when you got to 10 the audio wasn't the same. I was told by NasaTom that going over about 4 on the F75 & you begin to bring in masking effects.... I have been messing with 4 disc on 1 & 2 tones, with some success, but I feel like I have a long way to go to get THE perfect disc audio setting. Will try DP next time...

Bill, With the disc at 0, the audio is unreal as to what is going on under the coil...misses nothing..turned it to 10 and there was a dramatic decrease in audio.. maybe I would have got the same results, I don't know but I like to hear what is in the ground. IMHO, I believe, that I am going to like it better than AM even though there might be a very small sacrifice in depth...Richardntn

It'd be interesting how well the zero discrimination set-up would do on small gold nuggets in the ground. Or small lead, like #6 or #8 shot?

that told me about the settings. I just forgot to mention about the hot rocks. If you use any discrimination the hot rocks will respond. At 0 diec. the hot rocks don't make any noise.
