First of all this mignt not be the proper place for this question. If this is not the right place then I'm sure Digger or some on will tell me where to put it.....be nice now

I have an 1864 map of my county ( on CD) I'm trying to find someone who can produce an overlay ( plastic) map to place over my present day county map. Does anyone know of a company that provides this service.

Thanks TomB

Tom,

You may want to look at this: http://www.oziexplorer.com/

I also use TerraClient which is free: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Others/Home-Education/TerraClient.shtml

And lately I have been very pleased with Bing.com maps with the 3D feature installed. You can play Helicopter and do fly overs, fly arounds, look downs etc.

If you have a laser printer you can print a transparency to overlay.

Thanks so much Bill...you know where I'm trying to go. Sure would help speed up the research for sure. Thanks again TomB

was big on surveying. That brought to mind Geodetic markers which I think your area is probably littered with. And if you can find them referenced to on old maps, especially topos, they can act as alignment points for older & newer map overlays, rather than mess with coordinates.
