Overdue post with several finds...

Nice finds Mike. I have yet to find a silver coin here in Germany! I found a 1921 zinc and 1935 bronze today. I think I'll hit silver if I can get 10 years or so farther back.

Are the silver coins very small, like dime like? I'm digging any good sounding, narrow hitting signals (trying to avoid the aluminum) and having luck that way. The coins hit exactly the same as trash (pull tabs, caps, etc.), ID wise.

Keep up the interesting and good finds,
Albert

Hi Al, the silvers range from all sizes but typical finds are small silvers smaller than a dime to a nickle in size and are very thin. Many hit as a pulltab or aluminum so I would not avoid digging those signals, then there are the aluminum coins from around 1921, I try to dig it all. You might try buying a used local history book about the town where you live, kind of like a treasure map for me, LOL. I have two sites where farms once stood and they have produced very well, my oldest coin from the 1300s and my 400 yr old gold coin came from these sites along with many other nice relics and coins, even found an 1864 Indian Head at one of these sites. I'm back to work Monday, has rained almost everyday of my vacation, bummer but still got out. HH, Mike

Is it feasible to research the US soldier and maybe return the tag to the family?

and found Daniel T. Jones lived in PA. He passed away in 1977 or 1999. Have not been able to locate a next of kin. I will pick it up and continue researching when the ground freezes. Need to find an obituary. HH, Mike
