"Over voltage" error with stock batteries

Jeff in Pa

Well-known member
I have two older stock batteries that came with my used Etrac. Recently they both will show this error. It will at times power up for a while and then give the error which shuts down the detector.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jeff

Need more information.
Do you have the auxilary off the shelf AA battery holder? If so, try loading regular AA batteries in it and see what happens.

Could be the charger is defective and over voltage charging your battery packs to the point the batteries are slightly over voltage. What happens when you insert a slightly discharged battery pack into the detector?

Over the years i had this and a refusal to power up happen a bunch of times. A quick slap to the side of the detecotor case always fixed it.
These eTRACs have a ton of electrical connectors inside. Sometimes they can cause intermittent problems.

I took mine apart once the warranty expired, inspected and re-seated every dang connector i could find. Never had a problem since.

Not saying this is the case, but its also remotely possible especially considering the battery packs are old, that the software actually senses an 'undervoltage' and erroneously flags it as an overvoltage thus powering off the unit. After you charge the packs, measure the packs voltage with a voltmeter.

Let us know more.

I did not check the rechargeable packs but I did put fresh batteries in the AA pack and it works fine with it. I suppose the rechargeable packs are going bad.
