OUTLAW TEST ON ,14K WHITE GOLD & CAN SLAW

GunnarMN

I wanted to see if the outlaw could disc out foil and still get a good signal on a 14 k white gold ring , . white gold being harder to get by far, and I was able to get the chunk of pop can slaw to go sient and still pick up the white gold ring , this is very good , as I will not have to dig all that foil, . Thanks for sharing the video. The Outlaw is the real deal. It goes deep and does a fantastic job at discriminating.

Thanks for the video. Was digging lots of slaw last weekend. Now I know it can be discriminated out without missing gold rings. My wife does not have any white gold jewelry. Does it read differently than yellow gold ?

Gunner, can you retest the ring with the slaw on top, but a piece of paper between so they are not touching?Thanks...When did you get the Outlaw?

Increasing the Discrimination level above Iron will start to reduce depth of detection, cause more good-target masking, and you'll easily lose the smaller-size and lower-conductive gold jewelry.

In any naturally-lost setting, sallower-positioned junk will make it more difficult to get a good response on a deeper-positioned target.

Add ground mineralization and that will change a lot of things up, too.

That was a good sized ring, too, and a similar alloy make-up of a smaller-size ring will reject before your sample.

I have used same-size 10K and 14K rings and compared 10k yellow gold to 10K white gold, and done the same with 14K rings or different alloy make-up and found that they can vary a fair amount. It depends upon the particular mix of alloyed metals used. Sometimes the yellow gold specimen read higher and sometimes lower and sometimes similar to the white gold specimens. Gold jewelry spans a rather broad area, just like different sizes and shapes of can slaw or foil.

When searching for any lost gold jewelry, always put the odds in your favor and set the Disc. level at the lowest setting you can tolerate, then recover ALL good signals and 'iffy' signals, and always anticipate some target masking. Never try to knock out a lot of junk and expect to have adequate success looking for good jewelry. Jewelry doesn't fall into small, dedicated TID zones like same size-and-shape and alloy US coins so be prepared for a lot of challenges.

Monte is right. Set the discrimination 'low'. http://www.findmall.com/read.php?17,1755256

Thanks for the info Monte.

Rick, yes it reads diffrent on yellow gold , white gold is by far the nasty at discing out right next to foil so the adjust ment has to be close , I agree with monty, use as little as you can, unless its yellow gold, the yellow gold ring was comming in good still with the disq getting a modern pull to break up , KVM2 i will try that test foil over the ring with paper in between,

I just got the outlaw last week, what sold me on it was the expanded range of discrimination the DD coil, the all metal mode, and its light weight, by the way its very ergonomic, that is easyto use , like the knobbs and so on are in perfect position Gunnar

Gunnar.Thank you for doing these test with the Outlaw.I have not been able to use mine. This detector has a lot of secrets i think.Like the way you can quickly shift modes.Anyway keep doing these test please. We need to know about this detector bad.Find out something about this thing that know one knows.Because only a handful of people have this detector. :-$ B-)

Thanks for the info. Only got out once with mine sofar and was impressed with the finds.

kvm2 I did a retest putting the paper between the ring and foil it got it just fine I also tested in ground at 3" deep and it was also able to do the same thing but i had to make a slight adjust ment in the disq becuaes the ground had Iron in it , for me in a bal feild 3 to 4" is all I need as most of the stuf is not deep . but in a sports feild what is the most nagging thing is the small foils and this detector is doing a great job at seing right thru it and getting a good target.
